Ladybird Book of Cars:

This is my Ladybird Book of Cars printed in 1961, over fifty years old and in very good condition. I have underlined some of the car names featured in the book - I can only assume that these were cars that I had either seen or for some of them at least ones I particularly liked. I went on to own several of those underlined!
The company behind Ladybird Books dates back to 1867 when Henry Wills opened a bookshop in Loughborough, Leicestershire and within ten years was producing guidebooks and street maps. In 1904 Henry Wills was joined by William Hepworth and the company began trading as Wills and Hepworth. By August 1914, Wills and Hepworth published their first book for children under the Ladybird title. In 1971 Wills and Hepworth began trading as Ladybird Books. Ladybird merged with Penguin Books in 1998.
